Er...hi squadmates. This is probably the first time I had ever posted. But I think it should be the last too. Errm I posted this cos I feel indignant for Dawn.
-Guilt & Remorse
As you all know, we have been punished for not being prepared for FA. Dawn was especially guilty because she forgot to bring her bandages. She even apologized to everyone because of her mistake. What I do not understand are why are some of the squad blaming her? Ya, I know that it is can be quite unfair at first. But come to think of it, it isnt Dawn feeling like a million times worser and miserable inside? When you feel that your heart has just sunken to the bottom of the sea(ok, a exaggeration but you get what I mean), how would you feel if someone comes up to you and says"Oi XYZ, you should be feeling gulity now. Next time remember to bring ur bandages hor." Wouldnt it be just adding salt to the wound? After all, it is all for one and one for all. Think about the rest of the squad and try putting urself in their shoes.
-Recognition
To make the squad more bonded, we should try to recognise each of our squadmates the effort they have put in,(no matter how tiny like filling the bottles for the squad, helping the squad coming up with ideas, calling up everybody or even turning up for activity etc etc.) Try praising ur squadmates for their efforts and trust me you would put a smile on their faces.
-Effort
I know my dear squadmates have heard this sentence "Please put in more effort for the squad" like a gazillion times. But consider this, if everyone puts in the effort, like maybe passing the accreds, going for squad outing, or even having a one solid banging, seeing the achievements, the ma'ams would definitely commend us. When the other CCAs sees how dedicated we are to red cross, they would go like " Wow! The people in Red Cross are so dedicated to their CCA and so united in their squad. Their everything is so perfect! I should have joined Red Cross!" When you hear things like this, doesnt it give you the warm, fuzzy feeling inside? So ya, try and make this ur motivation, "the warm and fuzzy feeling inside" =)
-Courtesy
Ya, when squadmates help you out of an sticky situation like helping you print something, it doesnt cut a piece of ur flesh out just to say a simple "Thank you" No matter how simple, it means very much to that person. Just a simple thank you can determine how a person looks at you too. After the person has used all means just to convince her father to just to print a worksheet for you, and you just snatch away the worksheet without a siple word of thank you, it just reflects what kind of person you are in the inside. Moreover, when you want someone to print for you something, do not just say "Oi print for me this" A simple PLEASE would definitely determine the outcome.
I am not perfect as a squadmate and there are times when I really feel norchalant towards Red Cross. So I may not have the right to lecture(I sound like I am lecturing), but this just how I feel towards the squad.
Just to end off
What squadmates are and how should we treat them
Sweets-Treat them like sweets
Queens-Treat them like queens
U(you)-Treat them like how you would want to be treated like
Absolutely close-Treat them as close as can be
Different-Know that your squadmates are different in someways
Much fun- We can have much fun with them ahead
All equal-They are equal, no cliques(it would be hard at first,I am trying)
Team-We are a team together.
Efficiency-Must be efficient to make Red Cross proud
Shining-We can be shining stars of Red Cross if we want to be
A quote:
-A boat needs burdens to sail safely to its destination
If our squad is like a boat without problems, we would never be able to overcome the problems that awaits us when we become ma'ams. =))))
Yours truly,
